PHILADELPHIA -- Gas prices have soared to record highs again across the Philadelphia area and around the nation at large following the Memorial Day weekend.
In South Jersey, the average is $4.87. That's up 8 cents overnight, up 16 cents in the past week, up 61 cents in the past month, and $1.84 higher than one year ago. The national average retail price for a gallon of regular, self-service gasoline stands at $4.81 per gallon, up 5 cents overnight, 21 cents in the past week, 51 cents in the past month, and $1.77 higher than one year ago.
