One of South Florida's most notorious criminals, a man known as the 'pillowcase rapist' who investigators say terrorized more than four dozen women in the 1980s, has been convicted in one of the attacks. He faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced in March.

Miami-Dade County jurors found Robert Koehler, 63, guilty of sexual battery, kidnapping and burglary. He faces up to life in prison at sentencing March 17. He is also charged in six more attacks in neighboring Broward County.

The assaults attracted extensive media attention in South Florida and prompted the creation of a task force to investigate the sex crimes. Some victims who spoke to cold case investigators in Broward County said he followed them and knew their names before he attacked.
