A Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was hijacked by a co-pilot who stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the plane. Passengers and crew bravely intervened to subdue the attacker and save the lives of 174 people aboard.
Flydubai flight FZ 1073 took off from Dubai International on Wednesday morning, en route to Tel Aviv. The flight appeared normal until a commotion erupted - a co- pilot stabbed the pilot with a knife, prompting a violent struggle for control.
The plane plunged from 34,000 feet to 16,000 feet within minutes. Passengers, including many Israeli tourists and businesspeople, panicked as the aircraft careened erratically. Quick-witted passengers and crew members eventually subdued the attacker and saved the flight. The pilot was seriously injured, while the attacker - reportedly an Omani national - was bound and neutralized. The plane diverted to a nearby airport, averting a catastrophic crash.
