Addiction experts have signalled the alarm amid reports that former One Direction singer Liam Payne had pink cocaine in his system when he died in Argentina

Pink cocaine, the party drug that can contain ketamine and ecstasy, has been identified by the HSE at Irish festivals.

Professor Eamon Keenan, HSE National Clinical Lead, Addiction Services, said: “Polysubstance use overdose mortality was identified as a problem in our most recent drug-related death figures whereby four in five deaths had involved polysubstance drug use. Prof Keenan continued: “The drug market right across Europe is very volatile and this emphasises the need for caution, harm reduction and effective early warning identification systems as the stimulant drugs are becoming more potent.”
