The Air Accident Investigation Unit has released details of the potentially dangerous situatio

A light aircraft flew over a heavily populated area of west Dublin last year with a towbar still attached to its landing gear, an investigation has revealed.

The aircraft touched down with the towbar still attached to the landing gear which resulted in some minor damage to the fuselage on landing. No injuries were reported and there was no fire. The instructor said he moved the aircraft using the towbar after he became concerned about downwash from a helicopter in close proximity. The student told investigators that he had received a phone call of a pressing nature during the pre-flight walkabout which required further action.
