There have been two major issues with the pricing of the new console for Sony, the first being a reliable supply of DRAM and NAND flash memory, which are now much harder to order en masse, as many smartphone makers use the same parts. That industry has exploded in technology usage in the seven years since the last PlayStation was released to markets.
The other issue is that the new console's cooling system which is"unusually expensive at a few dollars per unit". Most cooling units for consoles cost less than a dollar but"Sony opted to lavish more on making sure heat dissipation from the powerful chips housed inside the console isn't an issue". There is still no actual set release date for either the PS5 or the Xbox Series X but the latter will be making an appearance at E3 this June, which is likely when it will announce all of the details.
