Polestar is showing us the process from the concept car to the production model, revealing the design of the upcoming Polestar 5
concept car to the upcoming production version that is going to be called the Polestar 5. While the fully electric four-door GT is a couple of years away with a scheduled release date in 2024, the last episode of the series gives us a pretty detailed view of the exterior design that is still under development.
Nahum Escobedo, Exterior Design Manager at Polestar, talks about the inspiration behind the vehicle’s design which comes from sharks and airplanes. As we can see from the official preview images, the Polestar 5 will look very similar to the Precept concept car, although some features have been toned-town for production.
However, the main features of the concept car have been retained and the Polestar 5 is instantly recognized as an evolution of the Precept. Of course, the design is not yet finalized, since designers and engineers have some work to do before it’s ready for production, although we doubt that the end result will look any different from what we see here.
Polestar describes their new model as “an electric performance 4-door Grand Touring car”. We expect it to be a direct rival to the Tesla Model S, the Audi e-tron GT, and the Porsche Taycan, merging luxury with performance. Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, said a few weeks ago that the company
