Two males were arrested in Newcastle, Co Down, after one assaulted a police officer and fled. The chase led to a play centre where a large police presence was observed. Two officers were injured during the incident. The PSNI apologized for the disruption caused to children at the play centre.
A spokesperson for the PSNI has apologised to children present at a play centre for what they 'had to witness' following a 'flurry of activity' on Wednesday.
In a statement, a PSNI spokesperson said that the activity was in relation to two males, who were both eventually arrested, as one initially escaped after assaulting a police officer. "This was in relation to two wanted males, one was apprehended but the other made off after assaulting an Officer. A short time later, the male was located and arrested.
