A man had to be rushed to hospital after being struck by a lorry which then drove off on Friday evening.
The 38-year-old man was on Inverkip Road in Greenock around 6.35pm on Friday when he was hit by a Mercedes Artic lorry. The driver failed to stop and continued to drive towards Port Glasgow.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was taken to Inverclyde Hospital with a leg injury.The road was closed to allow investigations to be carried out with officers still trying to local the driver and checking CCTV footage from the roads network for any additional information on the lorry or the driver.
Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “I am appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact us. We are conducting inquiries to locate the driver of the lorry, who failed to stop.
