The Metropolitan Police said officers were investigating following an assault that is alleged to have occurred at the Emirates Stadium during the Arsenal v Manchester United match
Police are investigating an alleged assault after footage emerged of Sky Sports pundits Micah Richards and Roy Keane involved in an incident following Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United. Footage was posted on X, formerly Twitter of the two summarisers involved in a heated discussion with a man.
In the video Micah Richards appeared to show Richards speaking to a man while grabbing the front of his shirt with his two hands. Then Roy Keane was also seen getting involved seeming to come in to speak to the pair and laid one hand on the man’s shirt. It is unclear when the incident took place although the former players are seen in the same clothing they wore for Sky’s Super Sunday programme, the Mirror reported.
Met Police statement confirmed they had launched an investigation but there had been no arrests, with enquiries ongoing. A statement read: “Police are investigating following an assault that is alleged to have occurred at the Emirates Stadium during an Arsenal v Manchester United match on Sunday, 3 September.”
A spokesperson for Sky Sports told Mirror Football: “We understand the police are investigating an alleged assault by a member of the public immediately preceding the footage circulating on social media. In the footage seen, Micah Richards was acting to defuse a situation.”
