An investigation was launched following the 'distressing' incident
A man who was arrested after a child was grabbed from their mum as they walked down a Bolton street has been detained under the Mental Health Act, police have confirmed.
He snatched the child and tried to run from the scene. Brave members of the public helped apprehend him before police officers arrived.The child was seriously injured in the incident with their mother left 'very shaken'. A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and taken into police custody for questioning.
He added: "Whilst we have a man in custody, I want to assure you that our investigation does not stop here and I would ask any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch with us.
