The victim was taken to hospital

A man has been taken to hospital - and left seriously injured - following an attack in Nottingham. The man was assaulted in Radford Boulevard, between Radford and Lenton, at around 3.50pm on Wednesday .

Detectives remain at the scene on Wednesday evening and Radford Boulevard has been cordoned off by Nottinghamshire Police. The cordon is in place near the old Gregory pub, off Ilkeston Road. Police have asked witnesses to come forward. Detective Superintendent Justine Wilson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have a number of officers in the process of carrying out further enquiries. The man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries and it has been necessary for us to place a police cordon at the scene.

Meanwhile, the emergency services are also tackling a house fire nearby. The incident in Alfreton Road was reported at 6.40pm, with the road cordoned off an buses diverting.
