Pope Francis's voice was heard for the first time in three weeks since he was hospitalised with pneumonia as he thanked people for their prayers for his health
The pope's Pope frail voice was heard in a message played before the evening rosary prayer at St Peter's Square — a gathering that has taken place every night in his honour since he fell ill.
With his condition now more stable, there will be no further medical updates from Vatican doctors until Saturday, despite daily updates having been provided since his hospitalisation to date. On Wednesday, the Pope stayed seated all day in an armchair and used a breathing mask during the night. He continues to receive care at Rome's Gemelli Hospital and remains stable amidst his "complex" clinical condition.
