Popular Thornton pub Tavern at the Mill handed one-star food hygiene rating
A popular eatery in Thornton has been slapped with a one-star food hygiene rating, following a visit by inspectors.
The establishment, Tavern at the Mill, is run by Joseph Holt brewery in the village of Marsh Mill. According to their website, the pub offers an open plan, relaxed dining experience, with a "fantastic selection of food, beers, ales and homemade desserts." On TripAdvisor, the pub which was previously known as Marsh Mill Tavern, has received a four star rating out of five, showing its popularity amongst its punters. However, Tavern at the Mill on Fleetwood Road has since been given the low score of one out of five stars, following an assessment by Wyre Council.The assessment took place for the Food Standards Agency on 31 March.
Expanding on this, the website states this refers to: "Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building to enable good food hygiene." The other two factors inspected were 'hygienic food handling' and 'management of food safety' which were deemed 'generally satisfactory'. Back in February this year, LancsLive reported that the pub underwent a huge makeover, with new olive coloured huts installed in the beer garden, as well as a new glass side extension and open-plan dining area. The new area, including a carvery, has increased the number of seats in the establishment to 38, adding 12 extra places in the bar and the snug.
