Concerns have been raised that issues with Holyhead Port could cause delays in Christmas deliveries.
Holyhead Port in Wales will remain closed until December 19th according to the Irish Exporters Association.
The body said it has"learned" the information about the facility which was damaged during Storm Darragh last week.A statement from the Department of Transport earlier today did not suggest a prolonged closure of the port - but did say additional capacity in Ireland is being provided in Rosslare.Dublin Port has said it remains operational and has not experienced freight congestion in the aftermath of Storm Darragh.
It said sailings continue to operate from the port, with seven RollOn RollOff ferry sailings departures per day to Liverpool/Heysham/Birkenhead. Along with this there are a further nine LiftOn LiftOff container ship sailings per week from Dublin to Liverpool. Dublin Port is in regular contact with the Port of Holyhead and all operators to facilitate off-schedule sailings, non-standard routes and to enable the operators’ contingency arrangements to be deployed.
