A 31-year-old postal manager in Cleveland was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for stealing mailed packages that contained cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine.
U.S. District Judge Donald Nugent also ordered authorities to seize more than $100,000 in cash and two vehicles from Anthony Sharp, 31, of Euclid.
But Robert Corts, an assistant U.S. attorney, dismissed the claim. He said Sharp abused the public’s trust and presented evidence that indicated that Sharp, during a three-month investigation by postal inspectors, had visited several locations after he had taken packages from the mail. The records indicate that the packages ended up at a facility on Broadway Avenue in Cleveland, which serves as a hub for Express Mail for 15 ZIP codes in the city.
