Pregnant Dublin woman living in flimsy tent challenges Taoiseach over homeless hell
A pregnant woman living in a flimsy tent has challenged Leo Varadkar to experience her homeless hell.
The mum-to-be, who has been in the park with partner Christopher Evans since August after being told their €1,350-a-month apartment was to be sold, held a scan of her baby and added: “It’s a boy. But it’s a big fear that we’ll have to stay here.Cassie, from Coolock, North Dublin, appealed to the DRHE for a safe bed.
The couple went to the council’s homeless service at Parkgate Hall on Tuesday but were told it would be a year before they could get a couple’s bed. Feed Our Homeless chief Tony Walsh contacted the DRHE-led Dublin Region Assertive Street Outreach Service, operated by Dublin Simon Community.
