The former Love Island presenter and actor has opened up about the hardships she faced as a young woman in the industry and having to navigate the rough waters of fame and family life

Irish presenter Laura Whitmore shot into the spotlight in 2020 as she took over as host of Love Island after Caroline Flack left the show for personal reasons. She hosted the show until 2023.

She reveals that almost 20 years later, she is still dealing with the mental toll of anticipating press involvement in her day-to-day life."I remember starting off in like 2009 interviewing Britney Spears and Katy Perry and all these women who are just coming up in their career, and icons, and how the press would tear them down," she recalls, remembering: "sometimes women were very open, and then that was kind of used against them".

She admits that it was frustrating to have media-attention zoned in on her relationships and personal life, and now she has firm boundaries in place, with herself and her husband never posting pictures of their daughter or sharing big milestones online until after the fact.
