The President of Ireland has addressed the Irish living at home and abroad ahead of this Easter weekend.
President Michael D Higgins has shared a message for the nation ahead of this year’s long Easter weekend.
The President also paid tribute to those who were suffering due to the consequences of the virus, and those who are struggling to remain hopeful. “There is an uncertainty, anxiety and fear to be overcome as the Coronavirus takes hold in our communities. We have all been asked to take more restrictive measures in order to stop the spread of the virus.
President Higgins and wife Sabina offered their condolences to those who had lost family members and friends over the past few weeks. He also thanked the frontline workers and essential retail staff who have been working around the clock to provide vital services to the country and protect those within in.“That is what is central in the various religious services, the transcendence of suffering. Nature in its renewal offers us perennial hope as we deal with these difficult times.
