Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe has made it clear he wants four new signings in the next two weeks, and has sent a message to free agents dragging their feet.

"This week will be a tough week of going and doing what we need to do to get the right ones. We’re speaking to people every day, the phone calls are relentless but we need players to make sure that we can compete.

"Ideally we'd like one or two in before Wednesday so we can get some minutes under their belt with the way we play. "There are a lot of teams coming back from overseas soon, we have to make sure we get the right ones but they're out with parent clubs and we've got to respect that."If they've not got anything now they're not going to get anything any time soon are they? They need to make a decision. That's where I'm at with some of them.

He said: “I think they will be available this week sometime because they all come back to the country around Monday or Tuesday. I'm hoping that means some will become available. "There are lads out there who can be signed on a free contract, and there are lads we could look at who are at other clubs but that's the hard part.
