Areas granted the ‘Purple Flag’ standard are awarded the accolade by a panel of national experts, in recognition of providing a vibrant and diverse mix of dining, entertainment, and culture, whilst promoting the safety and wellbeing of visitors and local residents.Prestfest is the city’s outdoor event of the summer
The last few years have not been what anyone expected, and destinations across the UK have had to tread new territory in recovering from the effects of the pandemic. Destinations being awarded the accreditation in 2022 have clearly evidenced this to the awarding-panel.A spokesperson from the Association of Town and City Management , awarders of the standard, said:
“‘Purple Flag’ has been important to many of our towns and cities that hold the accreditation during lockdown, as well as being instrumental in the reopening policies and strategies with key stakeholders as our towns and cities adjust to the new way of life post-pandemic.
