Preston’s event to mark World Suicide Prevention Day has been cancelled due to the Queen’s passing

Preston Wellfest tweeted the news, saying: “Due to the Queen’s passing Preston City Council has, due to protocol, cancelled events taking place on the Flag Market this Saturday.

“As such, unfortunately, the World Suicide Prevention Day Event tomorrow will now not be going ahead.”The free, drop-in event was due to take place on Saturday . It would have featured insights from people who have have been touched by suicide, plus stalls hosted by local community and support organisations.One said: “I know this is out of your hands, I’m uncomfortable with the message it sends to anyone who was planning on coming to investigate what help they could access with suicidal thoughts.”Preston Wellfest said organisers were ‘working hard behind the scenes’ to arrange a new event as soon as possible.
