The 'Conversations With Friends' actor stars in CalvinKlein’s Pride campaign celebrating chosen families within the LGBTQIA+ community.
, because Calvin Klein stands for more than just “a flash of rainbow colours” at this time of year. “They truly dived in and really hit the nail on this one,” says the 26-year-old American of the emotive photograph series, which also features trailblazers and advocates, including members of the LGBTQ youth organisation, the Trevor Project.
“Pride is understanding what it took to get where you are and just having the utmost love and respect for it,” explains Lane, who says she and her brother are chosen family, as well as biological family.Sasha and Sergio are siblings, but they still consciously chose one another, according to Lane. After living apart for a while, they were reunited in LA and had to reestablish their relationship as adults forging their own identities.
Modelling, Lane admits, is not her favourite thing to do, despite the fact you will have seen her in a handful of magazine editorials surrounding the BBC adaptation of Sally Rooney’s first book. “I’m such an uncomfortable, awkward person,” she says, modestly. Partner her with Sergio, however, and he brings out a hidden energy inside her: “He’s like the sun!”The self-professed “moody person” normally exists between two stylistic parallels: “super baggy or like a doll”.
