The Prince and Princess of Wales had been struggling to choose on a name for their eldest son so they came up with their own special way to decide what their first child would be called.
Deciding on a name for any new royal baby is a very important task, particularly so if that youngster is one day destined to be King or Queen.
Prince George's name is a classic however and is very fitting for a future king as it pays tribute to a number of famous royals. When his name was announced a few days after his birth, many bet-makers rejoiced as George was the favourite to win at 10-1 with the moniker having many strong royal ties throughout history.His first middle name is Alexander, which is the male version of the former monarch's middle name, Alexandra.
The pair reportedly wrote down all the possible names they could choose on scraps of paper and put them on the floor of their home.It now seems impossible to imagine the future King having another name but he was in fact originally going to be called Alexander. Nicholl added that during her pregnancy, Kate had referred to George as 'our little grape' and claims that she had a hunch she was expecting a boy because he kicked so much.
