Kate Middleton surprised well-wishers with an unusual gesture during a royal engagement in Wales . The Princess of Wales , 43, visited a children's hospice and the Welsh knitwear and sock manufacturer Corgi in Ammanford. After touring the factory, as she was about to leave, Kate unexpectedly pulled over her convoy to speak with a three-year-old girl named Lily-Rose Logan, who had been calling out 'hello princess'.
The young girl offered Kate a banana, and Kate, impressed by the child's enthusiasm, took the time to interact with her. Lily-Rose's mother, Stacey Chorley, was thrilled by the encounter. She said, 'It was so exciting, we had no idea that was going to happen. I hope this is one of the things Lily-Rose will remember. Kate was so lovely, she's very natural and down to earth.'At the Corgi factory, Kate spent over an hour observing the production process and interacting with the staff. She even tried her hand at 'linking,' the final stage of sock production, joking afterward that she was 'terrible' at it. Huw Jones, the former owner of Corgi, lightheartedly assured her she had passed the test and could 'start on Monday.' Shauna Kinsey, who demonstrated 'linking' to Kate, described her as 'lovely' and remarked on her genuine interest in the manufacturing process. Corgi, founded in 1892, originally made socks for miners and now sells its products in 34 countries. Chris Jones, co-owner of the company, expressed his delight at Kate's visit, stating that it was a wonderful opportunity to highlight the skills and expertise of UK manufacturing.Earlier in her unannounced visit to Wales, Kate followed tradition and made a handprint at Ty Hafan children's hospice, a place she described as a 'lifeline.' This visit marked her becoming patron of the hospice, where she contributed to a wall of handprints from children and their families supported by the hospice staff. Kate's trip to Wales follows another earlier in the week, marking her continued phased return to royal duties after undergoing chemotherapy last summer. She recently confirmed that she is in remission from cancer. This week's flurry of royal engagements, including a surprise appearance at Holocaust Memorial Day commemorations, is seen as part of her gradual resumption of official duties
