A man who went viral after he looted a string of shops in Hull has received one of the longest prison sentences linked to the recent riots. John Honey, 25, was jailed for four and a half years after he was spotted looting bags full of cosmetics from the Lush store while wearing a distinctive St George’s Cross T-shirt amid the disorder on 3 August.
Honey also took items from the O2 and Shoe Zone stores, attacked a BMW carrying three Romanian men, pushed bins at police and targeted a garage, leaving nine vehicles damaged. John Honey, 25, who looted cosmetics chain Lush during the riots in Hull The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to violent disorder, three charges of burglary and racially aggravated criminal damage over the BMW incident.
