The parent company of the newspaper took a hit from higher costs, despite its Irish subscriptions rising by 32%
Profits at Mediahuis dropped from €117.3 million in 2021 to €65.3 million in 2022, according to the company’s latest results.
The Belgium-based media group owns the Irish Independent and other brands formerly under the Independent News and Media umbrella. In a statement, the group said that digital subscription growth “came under pressure” in 2022, but that it now has 1.8 million subscribers across its brands, up 13 per cent on an annual basis.
