Property price growth slowed to less than 1% in 2019, new figures show
Property price growth slowed nationally to less than 1% last year - while in the capital it has stayed flat and cooled off, new figures show.
While annual inflation in the rest of the country increased marginally, it has dropped off completely in the capital, according to the MyHome.ie report.Asking prices nationally excluding Dublin rose by 1.4% or €3,108 during the 12-month period when compared to 2018. Overall, the median asking price for new sales nationally was E267,000 -a jump of E1,922 -while the price in Dublin has remained at €374,000.The author of the report, Conall MacCoille - chief economist at Davy, said that the slowdown in house price inflation was to be welcomed and was inevitable given stretched affordability.
"Our analysis shows that the average residential transaction in Ireland is now 6.8x the average income of €43,000.
