Terrorism Investigation Unit returns to Innisfree Gardens
Detectives from the Terrorism Investigation Unit conducted a search at a property in the Innisfree Gardens area of Strabane in Co Tyrone on Thursday night and seized "a number of items" . The search was part of the investigation into the alleged attempted murder of two police officers in Strabane on Thursday November 17th.
The two officers had been on patrol in the Mount Carmel Heights area of County Tyrone when a bomb was detonated at the side of their vehicle, prompting police to pursue a "strong line of inquiry". Four men arrested by detectives have been released following questioning. The PSNI were called Innisfree Gardens on November 21 after the discovery of a "suspicious object". A number of houses were evacuated , but the object was later "declared as nothing untoward" - and police later confirmed that it was a police torch that had been reported missing.However, the Police Service of Northern Ireland has now searched a property in Innisfree Gardens as part of its ongoing attempted murder investigation.
"A number of items have been seized and taken away for further forensic examination. The attempted murder investigation continues and police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on 101.
