Proposed State Pension age changes may mean you need to work longer before being able to retire

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt confirmed during his Autumn Statement that the UK Government’s review of the State Pension age will be published in early 2023 and is scheduled to be released in May. At the start of this year, the Department for Work and Pensions launched a second review of the State Pension age, which is now 66 for men and women across the UK.

This second review is considering whether the rules around pensionable age are appropriate, based on the latest life expectancy data and other evidence.These are: “It must also ensure that as the population becomes older, the State Pension continues to provide the foundation for retirement planning and financial security.”
