A group of roughly 200 people gathered outside the University of Missouri-Columbia's Phi Gamma Delta house on Wednesday to protest against the fraternity, the Associated Press reported.

The demonstration came as the university suspended all fraternity activities, including social events, after a freshman who attended a Phi Gamma Delta party had to be transported to a hospital.Columbia Missourian"Hazing has gone on for too long, and it shouldn't take someone almost dying for the university to do something about it," student Olivia Sommer said.

The hospitalized freshman was found unresponsive early Wednesday, but no other details were immediately available on the student's condition, AP reported. An initial probe into the party determined that some of the Phi Gamma Delta members present were believed to have ingested large amounts of alcohol, according to a report from theA group of roughly 200 people gathered outside the University of Missouri-Columbia’s Phi Gamma Delta house on Wednesday to protest against the fraternity.

The fraternity's national president and spokeswoman didn't immediately respond to an email from AP on Thursday seeking comment.Department and the Office of Student Accountability & Support also continue to investigate. "We are extremely concerned about the events that were occurring at the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity," Bill Stackman, vice chancellor for Student Affairs at the Columbia campus, said in a statement.
