The reported attack is said to have occurred in Carrickfergus

A man has been arrested after a teenager who is a care home resident was allegedly sexually assaulted by an older man.

Police are investigating the incident which is reported to have taken place between 1am and 4am on Sunday, June 4, in the Carrickfergus area. A PSNI spokesperson said: " Police investigating a report of a sexual assault, which occurred sometime between 1am and 4am on Sunday 4th June in the Carrickfergus area, arrested a 26 year old man on Wednesday 7th June. The man was later released on police bail whilst further enquiries are conducted."

A South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust spokesperson said: "The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust is absolutely committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in our care.
