The competition is really heating up now.
The €25,000 Sporting Press Online Edition Irish Oaks continues this evening at Shelbourne Park with four brilliant quarterfinals.
Winner of the Christmas Oaks, Molly has been in superb form since returning to the track with her 28.45 victory last week making her hard to oppose in this contest. Heat winner Beretta Reba has to be taken seriously too for trainer Graham Kelly as this lady has become a regular at the Dublin track while Epic Chick in trap six will be flying home for John Kennedy.
Droopys Edel was the fastest heat winner last week for trainer Ian Reilly as she recorded a flashy time of 28.21. She looks the one in the second heat but there is a nice bit of early pace in this line up. Kerogue Lady in trap six hasn’t been hitting the lids like she was at the Kingdom track in Tralee. We all know she is capable of a big run but she must start trapping better for trainer Patrick O’Connor.
I was delighted to see Lets Go Bubbles return to winning ways last week as she clocked 28.59 for trainer Owen McKenna. She finished strong to beat Ballymac Run by two lengths so I’m going to take a chance on her again in race 10 from trap six. Heat winner Deelish Nora won in 28.42 so she cannot be dismissed easily while Shelbourne Open 600 runner-up Kyanite Kate in trap five is due a fast start.
