Ní Ríain and Comerford won bronze medals within five minutes of each other.

Róisín Ní Ríain and Orla Comerford both won bronze medals on a wonderful evening for Team Ireland at the Paralympic Games.

Ní Ríain took to the pool at 7.10pm and faced a stacked field in the women's SM13 200m Individual medley. The teenager was pushed all the way by Shokhsanamkhon Toshpulatova, but held off the Uzbekistani national down the back straight of her freestyle leg to take home her second medal of the games in a time of 2.27.47.

Moments later, across Paris, Orla Comerford was preparing to step onto the track at the Stade de France as she competed in the T13 100m final. The 26-year-old Raheny Shamrocks star turned in one of the best performances of her life to clock a time of 11.94 and take home bronze for Ireland. She finished behind Da Silva of Brazil - who broke the World record - and Lamiya Valiyeva, who set a new World record in a time of 11.76 in the fastest Paralympic T13 100m final everGet the latest sports headlines straight to your inbox by signing up for free email alerts.
