Rachel Callaly was murdered by Joe O'Reilly in their home in Naul, County Dublin, on 4 October 2004, but her mother now fears for the first time that he could be released from prison
The mother of murdered Rachel Callaly says she fears for the first time in her life that killer Joe O’Reilly could soon be released.
And with him having served over 16 years in prison, Rose fears that O’Reilly may finally get the chance at freedom that he’s so desperately sought ever since he was jailed. She said: “Of course I wouldn’t want him to get out but there’s so much happening in the world that you’d say I can’t believe that’s happened. So nothing would surprise me now. But as long as I’ve breath in my body I will do anything to keep him there. I will get out there and do something.
“But in hindsight there were times when she’d come down to me upset. There was one time, I think about a year before and it was early mid morning and she was sitting in the car when I drove in. And when I got out she was sitting there and very, very upset.
