There are new questions being asked about discrepancies in the case of a carriage horse who collapsed on the streets of New York City two weeks ago.

Animal rights activists rallied at City Hall on Wednesday to call attention to a proposed bill that would ban horse-drawn carriages and replace them with electric ones.

The activists say that they've learned that the veterinarian who examined Ryder says he was suffering from malnourishment and exhaustionA 14-year-old carriage horse named Ryder collapsed near the intersection of West 45th Street and 9th Avenue on Wednesday evening. Also announced during the rally was that the horse was much older than initially thought. Activists said they've learned the horse was 28 -- about 12 years older than previously reported by the Union.City codes say that carriage horses can not work past age 26.
