Gordon Parks manned the phone after an eventful weekend at Ibrox which has left the Light Blues looking for a new boss.

As Rangers begin their search for a new manager on the back of Michael Beale's sacking, Hotline callers have played their part in that recruitment process.

John Bruce emailed: "On Saturday, I was at a charity dinner in celebration of Walter Smith. The event was attended by a long line of former Rangers players and true legends, including Souness and Ally McCoist, who had all played for the great man. They were applauded into the hall and paid emotional and heartfelt tributes to Walter's years at the club. Those players all knew, and still know, what it means to play for Rangers.

Stephen Ward, Milngavie, said: "I’m told Souness, McCoist, Muscat, Dick Advocat and Graeme Murty were all in the Louden Tavern on Saturday before the game. Ah, it was only pictures." Stephen Mulhern said: "It comes as no great surprise that the Rangers board are saying they will take their time on a new appointment. Any high profile manager knows the job is a poisoned chalice and my guess once again they will approach Derek Mcinnes who certainly won’t have Brendan Rodgers losing sleep."
