The Record Sport columnist knows it doesn't take being a world beater but special Ibrox relationship must be built on rather than taken for granted.
There's an old saying which might sound like a bit of a cliche but which everyone on the face of the planet knows to be true: Happy spouse, peaceful house.
Unlike the guys who only arrived in Glasgow over the summer, I was brought up in it from the start. I was one of them before I was lucky enough to play in front of them. That gave me the advantage of knowing what was expected from me every time I pulled on that shirt and, for the most part, how to keep them happy.
But they’re also intelligent enough to understand that it can’t happen all of the time. So, when things weren’t coming naturally, I looked at the guy I was up against and I made sure that he wasn’t going to have it all his way either. I would run towards them, stare into their eyes and I could feel the energy and excitement. There’s an electricity that they create and I plugged myself straight into it. I couldn’t get enough of it.
Then, with ten minutes to go before they break, they suddenly seemed to realise what playing at Ibrox is all about. They upped the tempo, they got closer to their opponents, they frustrated them and forced them into making longer passes and getting caught on the ball. And that’s when the whole atmosphere cranked up inside the stadium.
That spark and connection is what has been missing since the start of the season and now that these Rangers players have experienced it for themselves, they have to want more of the same.
