TORONTO — The Rockets did nearly everything they needed to do better than they often do. They moved the ball pretty well. They got good shots. They sort of cut down on turnovers.
The Rockets were still within one midway through the fourth quarter after a Kevin Porter Jr. 3-pointer, his first of the game. But the two problems through much of the game — defensive rebounding and turnovers — bit them. In six previous games this season with a five-point margin in the final five minutes, the Raptors had made 61.3 percent of their shots, and 55.6 percent of their 3s.
Jalen Green led the Rockets with 21 points, his fourth-consecutive game with at least 20, adding six rebounds and six assists. Porter had 11 assists, matching his season-high. “We did some stuff in shootaround. We watched some film. We hopefully cleaned it up but no better teacher than experience, so we’ll have to go through it a little bit to make sure we are poised when we’re getting trapped and we’re seeing different defenses and we’re spaced correctly so the reads are easier.
