'We can all breathe a sigh of relief as it appears that storm has avoided Ireland'

Meanwhile, for the rest of the week, we can expect sunshine and showers most days as we head into August - but there is a dull wet day ahead on Wednesday.Monday, July 31 Today will be mostly cloudy mixed with occasional outbreaks of showery rain, turning heavy or possibly thundery in some spots later. There will be some limited sunny spells too. A breezy day in moderate to fresh westerly winds, with stronger winds in the northwest for a time early on. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees.
Tuesday, August 1 A mostly dry day tomorrow with sunny spells and scattered passing showers, with rain developing in southwestern parts by evening and extending northeastwards. Light to moderate west to northwest winds, becoming southerly with the rain. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees. Wednesday, August 2 A wet day with cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle throughout. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees, with moderate north to northwest winds developing.
