Gilroy mocked Erasmus’ comments after he said he wouldn’t like to be in Ireland’s position heading into their final World Cup group game with Scotland on Saturday.
South Africa director of Rugby and former player Rassie Erasmus couldn’t help but bite back at Off The Ball presenter Ger Gilroy on social media this afternoon.
“With full humbleness, and there is no arrogance saying this, but I’d rather sit here than be Ireland, knowing that we’ve been number one in the world all the time and Scotland basically just have to beat them by eight points, and they are out of the tournament. It’s not the first time Erasmus has tried to play mind games, after Ireland’s victory over South Africa he aimed a small dig at the referees when he posted on X:
It’s fair to say South Africa may be feeling the pressure of Saturday’s outcome with coach Jacques Nienaber also making a peculiar match-fixing comment on the game.
