Erik ten Hag's long-term future at Manchester United will be determined in the summer - but whether or not he stays at Old Trafford will not be decided by Sir Jim Ratcliffe
Manchester United's incoming chief executive Omar Berrada will ultimately be the person who decides whether or not Erik ten Hag will remain in his post next season, it has emerged.
Plundering Berrada from City was Sir Jim Ratcliffe's first major coup since acquiring a 27.7 per cent stake in his boyhood club from the Glazers, but the Ineos chief is likely to make further moves in an attempt to enhance United's operations. Dan Ashworth is expected to join the club as sporting director once an agreement for his services is reached with Newcastle, but there is still no clarity over the future of the man currently leading United on the pitch.
It's outlined that Ratcliffe is happy to delegate the decision-making process over Ten Hag's future to Berrada given his 'football expertise'. It's also noted that the Dutchman is now likely to see the season out after reaching the semi-final of the FA Cup. However, speculation over his long-term future has only intensified since the arrival of Ratcliffe and co, with the British billionaire failing to publicly endorse United's current chief.Despite an underwhelming season, Ten Hag insisted United are still on course for a bright future and pointed to injuries as a mitigating factor behind their poor form.
