A security alert is in Strabane after the discovery of a "suspicious object" has now ended.A number of houses were evacuated with residents being offered shelter at the local community centre on Fountain Street. People were advised to avoid the area.Police and Ammunition Technical Officers attended the scene at around 8.20pm on Monday, November 21.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “The object has been declared as nothing untoward. A number of other items have been taken away for further examination. “A number of properties were evacuated during the public safety operation, and residents affected have since been able to return to their homes. I want to thank the local community, in particular those who were directly affected, for their cooperation and assistance.
