The Minister for Children has insisted that all applications for redress under the Mother and Baby Institutions Payment Scheme will be processed"as quickly as is possible".

Richard Boyd Barrett, Solidarity-PBP TD, had tabled an amendment that a 28-day deadline for processing applications be adopted. Sean Canney, Independent TD, pleaded that the amendment be accepted, and warned that reassurances that applications will be dealt with"as quickly as possible" would easily"get diluted".
