A wreath with symbolic colored candles is used for Advent. The first Sunday in Advent is Nov. 27. Traditionally, one candle is lit for each of the four Sundays in Advent. The first candle, violet colored, is said to represent hope. The rose colored candle is lit on the third Sunday and represents joy. The other two violet candles represent peace, second Sunday, and love, third Sunday.
