The most interesting story at the BMW Championship? Rory McIlroy versus a remote-controlled golf ball. Seriously...

“He kept yelling at Rory, ‘This is my dream, this is my dream,’” Stallings told USA Today. “I don’t know exactly what he was dreaming about, but his ball is gone.”

McIlroy’s decision to launch the ball into the pond was greeted with applause and a few boos. The man who threw the ball was escorted out of the grounds by law enforcement. “I thought it was great,” Stallings said of McIlroy’s handling of the situation. “I was about to go and do the same thing.” But this wasn’t the only wild event happening on the green at the BMW Championship. A man ran onto the 15th green, disrupting play.

McIlroy went on to miss the birdie putt on the 15th but would birdie the next two holes only to three-putt for bogey on the 18th for a round of 70. He lies 7-under par in a tie for 10th and five shots off pace, currently set by defending champion Patrick Cantlay on 12-under par.
