Gardaí have renewed an appeal into the disappearance of a couple from Co Cork over 30 years ago.

Conor and Sheila Dwyer, from Fermoy, were last seen near their home in Chapel Hill on 30 April 1991.

The couple, who were in their 60s, were well-known in the area and drove a white 1978/79 Toyota Cressida.Mrs Dwyer’s sister spoke to the couple by phone the day after they were last seen but they have not been heard from since.Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information on the Dwyers or their Toyota Cressida car to contact Crimecall on 1800 40 50 60 or Fermoy Garda Station on 025 8210.

Retired Chief Superintendent Kieran McGann, who worked on the case, said the disappearance"remains a mystery to the community" and hopes that 33 years later the fresh appeal will help bring"some closure to the family". Conor Dwyer’s former colleague Peter Massey told Crimecall that Mr Dwyer was a"kind, gentle and honest man" and the couple were"just nice people to be around".
