President JoeBiden's hold on battleground districts is slipping, endangering Democratic incumbents in Virginia, according to an analysis by the NRCC.

Biden's popularity in congressional districts with a high number of independent voters has plummeted due to his policy positions, the NRCC's survey of 77 battleground districts found. The committee highlighted several districts in northern Virginia where the incumbent Democratic representatives may be in danger after winning by narrow margins in a state that voted for a Republican governor last November.

The committee is the campaign arm for House Republicans, who are seeking to regain the majority in the midterm elections. The survey found that as Biden's approval rating dips, Republican leads increase, especially among independent voters. On average, 40% of voters in battleground districts approve of the president, while 55% disapprove. Though Biden won these districts by about 5 points, Republicans lead in a generic ballot by 4 points.

The NRCC said voters attribute this shift to a feeling that Democrats are out of touch with the average person, particularly on economic troubles including record inflation, gas prices, and food prices.Biden won Virginia by 10 points in 2020. But last year, Republicans won all the statewide offices, led by Gov. Glenn Youngkin.
