Republican propaganda falls short when it comes to big-tent Democrats like Sherrod Brown, writes Lauren Harper.

The steep dropoff in support between Brown and other statewide Democrats running that year demonstrates that he garnered a unique level of support among voters who could otherwise be expected to vote for Republicans.

Republicans running for office in Ohio will do everything they can to link Democrats to unpopular far-left tropes like open borders, defunding the police, and inattention to inflation. But such propaganda falls short when it comes to big-tent Democrats like Sherrod Brown, who welcome in Republican voters and for whom such charges of extremism are patently false.

As the race for Senate begins to heat up in the coming months, remember to take these ridiculous attacks with a grain of salt. Republicans like Matt Dolan are going to have to come up with something more original if they want to beat an independent problem solver like Sherrod Brown.
