Angry residents say Stinky's Peephouse nightclub fire is 'bang out of order'
Leeds locals have said the city has 'gone to pot' as they watched a former Leeds nightclub go up in smoke.
Smoke was seen pouring from a hole in the roof. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service sent firefighters up on a crane with a hose to extinguish the flames. Locals passing by expressed their anger at the historic building's demise.Disgusted onlooker Gwen Dagless said: "I could smell that fire on Lincoln Green last night. It is making me angry because it's an old building. It used to be an old wine bar before being a nightclub.
Byron Bowen, 20, was saddened my the image of a once popular venue reduced to a complete ruin. He said: "I think it's disgusting. These buildings should be preserved, not destroyed. It makes me feel sad, I must say. It's a building that could have been used for anything and it's going to cost the taxpayer to repair it. It is a sad image. It's unfortunate."
